The Eastern Sierra College Center (ESCC) is an instructional site of Cerro Coso Community College serving areas of California including Bishop, Big Pine, Lone Pine, Independence, Death Valley and surroundings located in Inyo and Mono Counties.

The stately Bishop Campus is a full service campus offering the opportunity to advance education by taking classes for transfer, fulfillment of career, technical education or simply for personal fulfillment. A wide range of classes are offered on campus, televised through interactive television or online in lengths ranging from a semester to a few weeks. Individuals are encouraged to explore the broad spectrum of offerings. Campus facilities are available for outside events .

Becoming a Student at Cerro Coso

Individuals who meet one of the following criteria are eligible for admission to Cerro Coso Community College:

• graduates of accredited high schools
• individuals who have either the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) certificate or the General Education Development (GED) certificate
• persons 18 years of age or older who are able to benefit from the college's instructional programs

1. Fill out the application form online.
2. Send us your transcripts, if we ask.
   Credit earned from other accredited colleges or universities may be transferred to Cerro Coso upon admission. Students will need to provide official transcripts showing satisfactory scholarship and an honorable dismissal. Transcripts from all previously attended colleges must be mailed directly to Admissions and Records:

3. Attend orientation .
4. Log into Navigate .
5. Meet with a counselor to determine your placement in math and English , and to develop a Student Education Plan (SEP) .
6. Get Financial Aid by completing the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov .
   
   Cerro Coso's Federal School Code (010111) must be entered on your FAFSA so that your information will be transmitted to us electronically. You will also need a pin to sign the FAFSA electronically. Apply for a pin at fsaid.ed.gov . Parents of dependent students must also apply for a pin.
7. If you qualify, also apply for a California College Promise Grant (formerly known as the BOG Fee Waiver) on the Financial Aid webpage.
8. Register for classes.
9. Pay fees within ten days of registering for classes (unless you have an approved fee waiver. [See Financial Aid .])
10. Attend classes. Students who do not attend the first day of class will be dropped .
11. Meet with counseling each semester to further develop your SEP and discuss meeting your education and career goals

Beginning summer 2019, Pell Grant eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year. What does this mean for you? If you were a Pell eligible student in fall 2018 and/or spring 2019, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for summer 2019!

Minimum Credits for Summer Pell Grant

If you enrolled full-time (12+ credits) and received the full-time Pell Grant amount for fall 2018 and spring 2019, you must enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) in summer classes to receive a summer Pell Grant.

If you enrolled part-time fall 2018 or spring 2019, there is no minimum credit requirement to receive a summer Pell Grant (unless required by your EFC). You can use the remainder of your annual Pell Grant amount during summer with no minimum credit requirement.

Pell Grant Amount Depends on Enrollment

Your summer Pell Grant amount will depend on the number of credits you are registered in, as well as your Pell Lifetime Eligibility Units (LEU). The Pell Grant amount will be adjusted just prior to the release (disbursement) of your aid based on your enrollment level. Enrollment levels are defined in the following manner:

• 12+ credits = 100% of the semester Pell Grant amount
• 9-11 credits = 75% of the semester Pell Grant amount
• 6-8 credits = 50% of the semester Pell Grant amount

About Financial Aid

What is Financial Aid

Financial aid consists of funds awarded to students to help meet their educational expenses. It can also provide students with the opportunity to earn money to help cover their expenses.

There are several types of aid offered at Cerro Coso College which are funded from federal and state agencies and private organizations. The major categories are:

• SCHOLARSHIPS - Awards based on scholastic achievement and other criteria. These awards do not require repayment.
• GRANTS - Awards based upon financial need. They do not require repayment.
• LOANS - Awards which must be repaid, usually after leaving school. Most loans have low interest rates.
• WORK STUDY - Opportunity to earn money for school through part-time employment.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov – for US citizens or eligible non-citizens

There are many opportunities for funding your education. All students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application at FAFSA on the Web every year. Applying online is fast and easy.

DREAM ACT APPLICATIONS: For eligible AB540 students (attended 3 years and graduated from CA High School, is not eligible to fill out FAFSA) – Considered for Cal Grants and Board of Governor's Fee waiver pending income eligibility.

Before you begin to apply - Important things to remember:

• The Cerro Coso Title IV Federal School Code ( 010111 ) must be entered on your FAFSA so that your information will be transmitted to us electronically.
• Apply for a pin at fsaid.ed.gov to sign electronically. Note parents of dependent students must also apply for a pin.
